Antifascist leafleting in Halewood
On Saturday, members of Liverpool Antifascists delivered leaflets in Halewood. Our aim, during the present by-election campaign, was to warn people of the deceit inherent in the BNP’s “working class” rhetoric. (Click on the image of the leaflet below to open the PDF version or right-click and choose “save as” to download it.)
Despite extremely wet weather, there was both a good turnout from activists and a positive response from the people of Halewood.
Liverpool Antifascists intend to do more intensive leafleting of the area during the next two weeks. However, we do not simply wish to turn up as outsiders and disappear again once the election has passed.
The BNP are actively campaigning in the by-election, and this is not just an exercise in putting up a ‘paper’ candidate to test the water. They want to win, and a good result for them will no doubt mean an increased presence in the area. In response to this emergent fascist threat, the people of Halewood require dedicated organisation at a local level.
On Saturday, several people indicated their willingness to get involved with such a campaign, and Liverpool Antifascists are more than willing to help antifascist organisation get on its feet in Halewood and the wider Knowsley area. If you want to do something in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact us.
