A controversial far-right political party is set to hold its annual conference in Blackpool again next month.

The British National Party (BNP) will return to the resort over the weekend of September 28 and 29, party officials have announced.

But organisers say they will not reveal the location of the conference for fear of reprisals.

A spokesman for the BNP said: “We generally don’t advertise where we are because people phone up and intimidate the owners.”

He added: “We won’t be announcing it.

“We’d love to be able to but past experiences haven’t been pleasant for us.”

The announcement that the party is to bring its annual conference back to the resort was made via a post on the party’s website –  and messages later appeared on social networking site Twitter.

The party has previously held conferences at the New Kimberley Hotel, on New South Promenade.

The hotel was closed down in March this year while Blackpool Council and Lancashire fire and Rescue Service consider legal action against its owner, Paul Metcalf, over a variety of health and safety breaches.

Editorial. So Nasty Nick’s off on his hols again? Evidently the warm reception which the BNP received when they tried to conference at the Cricketers in Liverpool last year was too much for them. Of course you can bet your darn tootin’ that they won’t be inviting us. No matter. We shouldn’t have too much trouble in sniffing this one out and we’ll be letting folks know the location as soon as we find it out. In the meantime, and to judge from that last sentence of the report, the BNP seems to be establishing a tradititon of meeting in squalid dives where no respectable person would be seen dead .
