EXCLUSIVE: London bus driver suspended over racist links with Nazi groups
Wes Lay has strong links with far-right groups including Combat 18 (C18), the National Front (NF), the British National Party (BNP) and Greece’s Golden Dawn.Despite his hateful beliefs Lay landed a job driving buses in ethnically diverse north-west London.
Now, anti-extremist campaigners have called for him to be sacked. They say it is inappropriate for a man with such clear sympathy for far-right groups to be working with members of the public. Bus company Abellio suspended him after his racist links were exposed.
Lay, 34, from Northolt, west London, has been active in the British far right for more than 15 years. A source revealed he is obsessed with the notorious white power band Skrewdriver and its dead singer Ian Stuart Donaldson.
He has even boasted online he is turning a room in his house into a Skrewdriver museum. Donaldson rose to infamy as the singer with Skrewdriver and co-founded Blood and Honour, a neo-Nazi music network used to raise cash for the far right.
Lay is also a regular at Nazi events and last year threatened to kill a photographer at an NF remembrance march to the Cenotaph in London. He was pictured walking alongside senior NF and BNP member and Holocaust denier Richard Edmonds, 71.

Edmonds, who was once jailed for assaulting a mixed-race couple, published a right-wing magazine called Holocaust News which claimed Hitler never gassed Jews, gypsies, gays or disabled people in concentration camps.
Lay has recently gone to war against Combat 18, which he dubs “Compost 18” and its leader Will Browning. In one online rant he called for a former C18 comrade of his to be hanged for turning his back on the organisation.
Matt Collins of anti-extremist group Hope Not Hate said: “Lay’s a bit of a sad case, buying items from the internet to build a museum as a shrine to another Hitler admirer.”Our investigator attempted to speak to Lay at his three-bed semi but he refused to open his front door and told him to leave.
An Abellio spokesman confirmed Lay had been suspended. He said: “We are aware of the allegations against one of our drivers who has been suspended pending a formal investigation.”
