The leader of far right group, the North Wales Alliance, appeared at Mold Crown Court this morning to be has been jailed for 17 years or historical child sex abuse and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Jones, 53, of Rowden street, Shotton was warned he faced a long prison sentence after he was convicted of sex offences in December last year.

Jones was convicted of six charges of rape, one charge of attempted rape and six charges of indecent assault. All of his victims are now in their twenties.

The offences dated back to the 1990’s but he was unanimously convicted by a jury at Mold Crown Court

Judge Rhys Rowlands said “You have no comprehension of the way in which you were meant to behave as a grown man towards young children, or the harm you have caused the victims.”

Prosecuting barrister John Philpotts said that victim impact statements showed the offences had not been reported at the time because the victims, as children, did not think they would be believed.

Some of them spoke of being unable to sleep, having nightmares, and still feeling the pain of what he had done.

One said that she felt angry and emotional and found it difficult to trust people.

Another told how her confidence and self-esteem had been affected and she suffered panic attacks.

John Philpotts, prosecuting,  described it as a sustained campaign of sexual offences with multiple victims which had caused severe psychological harm.

Jones had been leader of the far right group, the north Wales Alliance, a splinter group of the English Defence League who claim they campaign against child abuse.

Last year Jones gave a speech at a White Power World Wide gathering of far right extremists and nazis in Swansea and this year he was due to give a speech at the event being held in Manchester in March.

He also organised a far right march in Llandudno, north Wales to protest against Asian child grooming gangs in August last year.

Jones told the Daily Post at the time “This demonstration is to make people aware of Asian grooming reports we’ve had from members of the public”.

“We have got permission from the police for our peaceful protest. EDL, NWI, SDL will all be there, they’re all welcome.”
